In the wake of this year’s Women’s World Cup, more people than ever are talking about women’s football. The message of the tournament was one of inspiration, showing girls from all over the world that they too could one day reach the world stage.
Nike show us what those inspired girls look like with this short film called Spit Fire, Dream Higher. In it, we travel to different countries to hear from young women who are trying to make a name for themselves in the world of football. Some of them are just playing for fun, some are semi-pro and others are well on their way to pro stardom.
Nike have been all over the Women’s World Cup this year when it comes to ads. They were the sponsors of one of the most dominant teams, the US Women’s National Team. That side were runaway winners this year and used their platform to fight for equal rights. This documentary is a culmination of all the topics discussed around the tournament and takes it down to the street-level. For all the pomp and circumstance of the World Cup, seeing those women on screen inspires girls from the humblest of backgrounds to dream higher.
