What do you get when you combine wildfire, a burning forest, an insanely good mountain biker and an insanely insane camera crew? This incredible video, that’s what. Mountain biker Nico Vink cycles through fire in this very cool short film.
The message from the filmmakers is clear.
“In May of 2018 the Ute Park wildfire burnt 36,740 acres; a large swath of it was on the Philmont Scout Ranch.
Everything was shot in a controlled setting on private land during the winter in a recently scorched wildfire area. The crew was under the supervision of forestry professionals to ensure everything was executed safely. There wasn’t a single live tree touched throughout our entire production.
Thank you to the men and women who put their lives at risk fighting real wildfires around the world. Please be responsible this wildfire season.”
Wildfires are a serious issue in many parts of the world, but also a natural cycle of birth and death in the forest. Some flora in Australia relies on wildfires to germinate.
What’s for certain is that when Nico Vink cycles through fire it’s a great opportunity for film and sport to come together and create a fantastic visual result.
