“If a distant land falls you are not immune / Every place deserves to bloom”
The poet and dancer Safiya Kamaria Kinshasa gives a moving performance in this new fundraising video for the UK rewilding charity Heal.
Filmed in the English countryside, Kinshasa’s poem imagines Mother Nature coming to life, awakened by a forest fire (although art director Keshi Bouri assures us only dead wood was burnt!)
The poet laments the rift between humanity and nature, and reminds us of our communion with all living things – the grasshoppers, the caterpillars and the bees who share a right to land.
The campaign is fundraising for Heal’s land fund, which will go towards purchasing their first rewilding site in the UK.
