The Washington Post meets the military experts that help to make the Call of Duty games as realistic as possible.

The upcoming game in the franchise, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare promises to be the most realistic virtual depiction of war ever. To do this, the game’s developer Infinity Ward hired former Navy Seals to give advice for the story of the game, the weapons that are used and the nitty-gritty details of modern day combat.

The team here wanted to make sure that even the most seasoned army veteran wouldn’t spot anything that looked out of place in the game. For a lot of us, we really have no idea what an average combat mission is like or what the day-to-day activities are for most soldiers. In this game, the company put the former Seals at the front and centre of the development to make sure that everything in the release was pitch perfect. It’s really interesting to hear about all the little details that make Call of Duty special and learn about all of the hard work that goes into a franchise like this one.
