Julian Dennison returns as the affable Humphrey in the new advert from LYNX, which builds on the Kiwi/Aussie rivalry with some seriously topical shade-throwing.

Picking up where we left off, Humphrey and Rachel have had a good summer together, and all is well until Humph is dealt a double blow – an actual Australian shows up on the scene, and he runs out of his LYNX Australia (which had been providing his mojo up till now…).

Humphrey finds his motivation again when he discovers there’s a new LYNX product, this one actually for Kiwis… Queue a particularly tense handball scene between Humph and Dave, complete with reaction montages, 80’s music and a joke about Australian ball-tampering that might be a bit too close to the bone for any Aussies watching.

The cheeky ad continues to stoke the rivalry between the neighbouring countries, while making full use of Dennison’s status as a national treasure to market their new product.

As an Aussie living in NZ I find this highly offensive and as for the Roadside advertiment “Got an Aussie problem” I further find this offensive and will be making a formal complaint to the Advertising standards authority.

How would it go if you put up “ Got A Maori Problem” or an Asian problem???????? I am sure that would go down like a cup of cold sick and you would have racial complaints.

Fair go will be getting a heads up on this also, I am sure that this will go well with the marketing dept at Lynx.

The insinuation that “Aussies smell” as per the roadside advertisement is highly offensive, I am sure this ad will not be shown in Australia???????
