London Symphony Orchestra created this stunning ad for their performance of the classical album Dancing On The Edge Of A Volcano.

The orchestra returns for their 2020/21 season at the Barbican and will be focusing on music from the start of the 20th century. They decided to bring the bombastic nature of their performances to life through this choreographed dance that mirrors the music and the swing of the conductor’s baton. They add in some smoke and fire effects, making the whole thing feel magical and immersive.

It’s the sound of the performance that brings the whole thing to life though. Sometimes classical music can be mischaracterised as fusty and boring, but promos like this prove that that perception couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s a great piece of work from the LSO that perfectly captures the power of music and the incredible skill and talent it takes to perform it. It’s a wonderful short film that does a lot with a little. We’re really blown away by this one.
