This playful and informative video from TED-Ed traces the domestication of humanity’s most prefurred rodent killer, the humble house-cat.

A lesson from Eva-Maria Geigl, she begins by telling the tale of “Unsinkable Sam”, the cat in World War 2 who became renowned for making it through several different sinkings of both German and British ships. Geigl goes on to explain how the relationship between humans and cats began, and how over the course of around 10,000 years it hasn’t actually diverged much from how it started.
