US supermarket Kroger pledges to end food waste by 2025 in this animation.
In it, we see a woman walking down the street. She looks pretty down in the dumps. As she passes a family having a big Sunday roast, she looks on jealously as her belly rumbles with hunger. She walks inside the house, hoping to get a bite to eat. She’s welcomed with open arms and is given a seat at the table. Whilst this is happening, the ad tells us that 1 in 9 Americans struggle with hunger, despite the fact that nearly half of all food produced ends up being thrown away.
At the end of the commercial, Kroger tells us how they’ve pledged to take all food waste out of their supermarket by 2025. They make the case that it’s unacceptable that so many people should go hungry when there’s so much food to go around. It’s a nice animation that brings a serious issue to light. We love this ad and the message behind it. It’s a great piece of work from the company.
