The latest TV advert from KFC is a satirical send up of both TV adverts and old school cruise-ship crooners. The advert features the “Crispy Colonel”, a decidedly tanned version of the Colonel shmoozing his way around the deck of a party boat like some kind of knock-off Barry Manilow, instructing the camera by very literally singing “cut to me, cut to the sandwich, now back to me”, the final instruction being “now let’s hear those product attributes” as his backing band all tuck into the extremely crunchy new sandwich. KFC’s advertising has always been tongue-in-cheek and weird, but it’s great to see them lampooning their own style of adverts in a humorous way.
