The video for the latest single by electronic producer Jon Hopkins called Emerald Rush is an animated affair that feels like an old school Disney film (that is, until things get weird). In the video a young boy chases a light-emitting beetle with a face through a mysterious forest, for some reason determined to whack it with a stick. The beetle leads the boy on a strange adventure, eventually falling into some endless void which then prompts the video to explode in a kaleidoscope of colours and trippy visuals as the boy journeys through time and space. It’s certainly cool, but no more trippy than Disney’s Fantasia ever got at its worst moments.
