John Legend’s video for A Good Night is as much of an advert for Google’s phones as it is a music video – the whole thing was shot using a Pixel 2, which is staggering considering the quality and vibrancy of the footage. Far from just being a gimmicky sponsored ad though, the content of the video itself is actually just as refreshing and original. A parody of dating apps such as Tinder and Bumble, the video follows a young woman swiping her way through a dance-floor, turning away potential partners, finding a guy she likes (after checking out his other styles first), and eventually having some kind of wedding right in front of the DJ. It’s a light-hearted and funny video to accompany the happy track, but also a surprisingly well-put together comment on modern dating culture.
