The advertisement for the launch of the new BBC Sounds app – which will rival Spotify by offering users personalised playlists and podcasts – is a celebrity filled celebration of the huge amount of content available through the BBC’s radio and online services.


Beginning with a woman being shadowed by a very bored Rita Ora as she brushes her teeth, the pop star convinces her to try something new, setting her off on a journey through all kinds of genres and moods.

The advert is filled with wall to wall cameos from recognisable faces from the BBC, from Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo debating films on a train platform through to Idris Elba and Lauren Laverne discussing Dark Side of the Moon on a bus ride. There’s even a certain extremely famous Australian singer belting out a few “La la la’s” in a lift, though we’re unsure this is a service actually offered by the mobile app…
