IKEA’s latest TV advert takes the haunted house premise and turns it on its head. The short shows an empty house being swarmed with the classic floating sheet-style of spooky character, all assembling in the living room for what turns out to be a pretty bland get together (even ghosts have to put up with party sausages at some point). Eventually, a group of brightly coloured sheets burst in and turn things up a notch – DJ’ing, breakdancing and generally causing a ruckus before they all have to hide from the returning house-owners by decorating the room in jazzy patterns. The house-owners seem unfazed by the sudden change in decor, and the ghosts seem to have finally had a chance to let their sheets down, everyone’s happy.
