Aaron Kai is a native Hawaiian who moved to LA to explore the big city. As an artist, he loves to bring the bright natural colours of his homeland to the streets through murals, street art and skateboard designs.

He tells us how LA is a cool city, but it can be a little grey. One problem it has is that the sun can wash out colours, making the whole place feel slightly faded. Aaron’s work puts bright, contrasting colours side by side in a way that really gets your attention. He says it’s like being hit in the face with colour.

He says that one of his biggest inspirations is 90s cartoons. The era was known for its larger than life animation and bold colours. Nowadays, pastel shades tend are the most common thing that we see on a day-to-day basis. Aaron wants to bring those bombastic 90s styles back en vogue. The artist is one of the collaborators on Adidas’ Futurecraft Loop initiative, where they plan to make a shoe that is made from 100% recyclable materials and is totally recyclable as well
