This shocking video from the Kansas City Youth Ambassadors highlights some of the problems that children growing up in poverty have to learn about from a young age. The video is presented as a Sesame Street-style educational song, with Muppets-esque puppets educating children on the signs to look out for that mean their parent or guardian is overdosing on drugs. At the end of the video it is revealed that this is a real lesson that a 6 year old called Josie had to learn, leading to the campaign’s tagline “No kid should have to learn a lesson like this”. This is just one in a series of powerful videos in the same format called Lessons From My Neighbourhood, urging people to help break the cycle of poverty which can lead to children growing up in dangerous and unhealthy conditions.
