Vox tells us how to build a dinosaur in this fascinating video. We learn how museums work out how to put dinos back together after they’ve found them, often filling in the missing gaps themselves.

We like to think that we have a pretty good idea of what a T-Rex looks like, but when archeologists find their bones, they’ve almost always got missing parts. For years, historians have had to work out how dino skeletons fit together using just their intuition and how to construct a full skeleton that has lots of missing bits.

Using skeletons from other related animals and dinos, historians have done an astonishing job in putting the creatures back together. But the video also tells us how there have been some pretty big mistakes made over the years and that the historians guesswork hasn’t always been correct! The vid gives us a fascinating insight into just how the world’s oldest jigsaw puzzles are put together!
