This short doc by the New York Times tells the story of how journalist Micheal Scott-Moore survived being kidnapped by Somali pirates.

We find out how Micheal was first kidnapped and how he managed to negotiate his release. We also see the public reaction to the ordeal, with some saying that the journalist was foolish to travel to such a dangerous part of the world. Some say that it’s too risky to a country that’s infamous for kidnappings.

The doc looks at both sides, weighing up whether any story is worth getting kidnapped over. Whether we ask too much of our reporters, and asking the question of how people should go about reporting events in the most dangerous corners of the globe.
