Vox takes a look into the story of how one golf ball made every golfer “too good”. In the year 2000, Titleist released the Pro V1 and it literally changed the game.

In the past, most golf balls either used a solid core (better for distance) or a wound core (better for accuracy). But, the Pro V1 changed all of that. It had both. The stats show that almost every golfer across the board got better in the year that the Pro V1 came out. Now the average golfer could to hit balls with better accuracy and hit them a whole lot further.
