Google meets the creator of the Cinnamon AI program that is making life easier for overworked employees in Japan.

The country is infamous for its demanding work culture. Workers here sometimes do double the amount of hours as their western counterparts. Factor in the fact that more workers are having to look after their elderly grandparents as well and you have the perfect storm for a stressed out and knackered population.

But in this short documentary, Google meets Miku Hirano. She’s come up with an AI that can go through dense paperwork and extract key elements. This means that employees can save hours of work that would’ve been spent pouring through pages and can give the work to the AI instead. The AI can extract the same amount of data in seconds, thus making life much much easier for the human worker. Miku sees the AI as being part of a wider push to make life better for workers around the world. The more that we can give tasks to AI, the more time we can spend doing things that really matter to us.
