Vox dive deep into Britain’s impact in Hong Kong in this fascinating short documentary exploring the autonomous territory’s history.
Hong Kong was given back to China 23 years ago, ending 156 years of being an official British colony, and even after more than two decades have passed the last effects of British rule can be seen everywhere, from street names to statues to which side of the road they drive on.

The video is part of Vox’s Borders series exploring Hong Kong in depth, presented by documentary filmmaker Johnny Harris as a spoken to camera piece, intercut with old footage of the city as well as infographics and animations to visually illustrate the documentary.
