Designer Ruth Carter announced her exciting collaboration with H&M by launching this super succinct podcast.

She sits down for an episode of the faux pod That’s The Truth, Ruth where she spills the tea on fashion, culture and style. In this interview, she tells us about her new collection and how it was inspired by the looks she remembered from the late 80s and early 90s. Clothes inspired by afrocenturism, like colourful bucket hats and big baggy sweatshirts were all the rage. In this collection, Ruth wanted to reinvent some of the iconic garments that she saw back then.

The collection looks to pay homage to the impact that black culture had on fashion during the 80s. It’s actually the first time that Ruth has taken on a project like this, as her previous work was as a costume design for films. She worked on moives like Malcom X, Amistad and Black Panther. She’s in her element with this collab and the clothes look incredible. We can’t wait until they’re on the shelves so we can pick them up for ourselves. Would you get these outfits?
