This dramatic short film is the true story of a young man who got involved in drug dealing from an extremely young age.
Told with the voice of an actor but taken from a real interview with the subject of the film, Drug Runner acts out the journey the individual took through dramatised reconstructions of what happened to him, from being brought in as a lookout by a gang of older kids on the estate to eventually running his own illegal business.

Directed by Charlotte Regan, the film features some brilliant acting from the subjects while moodily capturing the vibe of growing up on an estate in London. The film subject’s interview is stark and revealing, giving insight into how just a few simple wrong turns can lead you down the wrong path. However, the director purposefully wanted to remain true to him by not portraying his actions in black and white, saying in an interview with Short of The Week “I could have easily taken the end line out about him not regretting what he’s done and it would have been a different ending all together, but I wanted to stay true to him and his opinion on it all.”
