This BAFTA-nominated short film takes a pretty abstract concept and just runs wild with it – Have Heart tells the story of an animated looping GIF of a duck made of shapes, whose day job consists of constantly jumping into the air then falling to pieces. The GIF begins to feel as though there may be more to life, as we see him struggling to support a partner (also an abstract duck) and hold his job down as he loses enthusiasm. The film is a weird and meta tale of an existential crisis taking place within a computer, and makes full use of its high concept ideas juxtaposed with soap opera-style family drama to comic effect.
