BBC Radio 4 and animation team Cribble shows us this haunting animation which shines a light on the issue of knife crime in the UK.
Since 2017, there have been 600 fatal stabbings in Britain. This animation follows the story of one of those stabbings. We follow a mother who’s told that her son has been stabbed. She recalls how she arrived at the scene, horrified by what she saw. Her son was still alive, but in a serious condition. He had been stabbed in the stomach and was fighting for his life.
The animation gives us a deeper insight into her fears and worries, as her son lays in the back of an ambulance. He’s rushed the hospital and is in intensive care for 4 hours. It’s an agonising wait for the mother, as she prays that her son pulls through. Tragically, she’s told by doctors that her son has been pronounced brain dead. The animation shows us the stark reality of what losing a loved one to knife crime feels like and how hard it can be to move on.
