Be careful because this one might ruin your life – this short film by animator Steve Cutts called Happiness will bring you anything but. An obvious critique of 21st Century life, swarms of rodents scurry to and fro in a dark and cramped city, consuming any intoxicants they can that will relieve them of the reality they’re in. The visual style works perfectly with the dark themes and moody music, and the animation itself has a beautiful hand-drawn feel to it, just be careful you don’t find yourself empathising with the main character too much.
