Guns Found Here is an eye-opening documentary into just how outdated and strange the process of gun-ownership and gun-tracing is in the United States. The ATF’s National Tracing Centre in Martinsburg, West Virginia is where every active gun-trace in the US is processed, and they currently handle around 8,000 traces a day. Despite this, many aspects of the process and held back by laws in the constitution that actively make tracing a gun that is used in a crime harder – paper forms are still the only way gun ownership is recorded, and there is no searchable database of gun owners so any felonies have to be chased up manually by sorted through the estimated 67 million forms that are stored at the centre.
