Fashion guru Gok Wan teamed up with Gay Times as well as LGBTQ+ non-profit All Out to produce one of his signature makeover-style shows in celebration of the Pride celebrations that took place last weekend across the UK. The video begins normal enough, but takes a turn after his first few fashion tips, as Wan brings attention to the persecution that the LGBTQ+ community still faces in other parts of the world. Gok’s fashion tips quickly turn into ways to protect yourself from rubber bullets, keep in contact with your loved ones or even just to hide your hairstyle, all references to attacks against the gay community that have taken place in countries like Chechnya, Turkey and Uganda in recent years.
