This shocking advert from Stop Ivory – an independent organisation dedicated to protecting elephants and putting a stop to the Ivory Trade – shows us in a brutal way the real cost of the sale of ivory. The advert is presented as an auction room, with a whole crowd out-bidding each other to get their hands on an intricately carved ivory tusk. The winner of the auction is a well dressed woman who appears pleased with her victory, even as when the gavel drops on the sale she is covered in blood and the carcass of a dead elephant reveals itself in the room. It’s a shocking and hard-hitting reminder that as long as ivory is being bought and sold, animals are being put at risk by allowing this market to continue.
