Natural History Museum by visual artist Kristen Lepore takes us into the museums of the future in this brilliant stop-motion short film.

In it, we see two people looking at an exhibit of two Neanderthals. They laugh at how dumb they look and pose for a selfie with the models. As they take the picture, they freeze and all of a sudden, we’re whisked into the distant future, where the next generation of evolved humans are looking on at the people from 2019. They find think that we look weird and stupid. How the tables have turned.

Funny Stop-Motion Animation Imagines What Future Humans Will Look Like image of Kristen Lepore

This keeps on happening and we keep skipping forward in time to see the next level of evolution of future humans. The pun is that each generation thinks the previous one looked stupid and primitive. It’s a really inventive animation that takes us deep into the future and shows us what humans might look like millions of years from now. The message of the film is that we shouldn’t always look at civilisations from the past and think they’re all primitive, as one day our current lives will be looked back on and be called primitive and silly as well.
