As far as possible problems a city could face, Flint in Michigan wins the trophy for the sheer number and volume. For two years, documentary film makers spent time following the police force of the city – 98 individuals who are charged with protecting a city with a population of 100,000 – and saw how they handled a city that on top of being one of the most violent cities in the country is still recovering from the coverup of a city-wide water contamination scandal. The trailer for this 8-part Netflix series looks beautiful, deeply personal and explosive in equal measure.
