The Great Big Story meet Nepalese villagers who climb rock faces on a search for beehives, looking to extract fresh honey. Talk about extreme beekeeping!

The villagers have been climbing for honey for centuries, often with no climbing gear, relying on their wits and skill to keep themselves from falling to certain death. Nowadays, they wear outfits to protect them from stings, but still use primitive, handmade ropes and ladders to hold themselves up.

In the documentary, you learn about the spiritual importance that gathering the honey has for the people here. It’s seen as a rite of passage and is a vital element of the villagers lives. Despite the huge risks, the villagers say it’s worth it,  for the prize of gorgeous, fresh honey.
