This spoof advert by Indian comedic collective East India Comedy is for a product called Brainwash. Taking their lead from every shampoo advert aimed at women ever, the advert suitably talks down to its intended audience by “mansplaining” exactly how brainwash will help them get an instant confidence boost through a combination of obedience and conformity. The ad strays from lighthearted jokes (“I spend all day measuring my thigh gap!”) into darker territory at the flick of a switch with a reference to terrorism and radicalisation, but the overall tone is a funny sendup of women’s beauty ads.
