Edith+Eddie is an Oscar-nominated documentary that starts as a life-affirming tale of finding love at an old age, but things soon turn to a darker narrative about guardianship abuse and the laws that govern the elderly. Edith and Eddie became newlyweds at the ages of 95 and 96 after splitting a winning lottery ticket, and though they lived happily together for a while it wasn’t long before the families of the two began trying to split them apart. It’s a heart-wrenching short film with an ending that will leave you speechless, and speaks about the wider problem of guardianship that affects millions of elderly people around the world.

EDIT: The full film has been removed from Vimeo due to its nomination for the Academy Awards. You can watch the trailer above and find out more at the film’s website –¬†https://www.editheddie.com/
