Renowned designer Simone Rocha visits the cities that made her who she is today in this interesting short doc from i-D.

In it, we see Simone discuss her cultural background. She grew up in Dublin to an Irish mum and a Hong Konger father. Being half Chinese in a city like Dublin when she was growing up was quite unusual, but Simone says it gave her a unique perspective on things and allowed her borrow styles from both backgrounds.

In the video, she explores Dublin and goes back to some of the most important places that she used to go to when she was growing up. She says that the history, character and landscape of the city had a huge influence on her. Next, she goes to London, where she currently lives. She describes the unique buzz of the city and says it’s a magnet for creative ideas and people. Finally, she visits Hong Kong, a city that she knows through her father. Although she didn’t grow up here, she says that she feels a strong connection to the city and loves exploring its streets.
