Tissues at the ready folks – this animation by Dementia UK is going to leave you a blubbering wreck. The short video shows how their Admiral Nurses can help those suffering from dementia connect with their loved ones again by representing the disease as an ocean separating an elderly couple. The heroic nurse helps the old man aboard a boat, battling the waves to get to a lighthouse where his partner is waiting, though unaware of who he is. By using memory triggers like photographs and music, the nurse helps get her “spark” back, represented by the lighthouse itself… We’re not crying, you’re crying.
