Adidas speaks to David Beckham about his highs and lows in football for the release of their new Predator Mutator boot.

Beckham was a rising star in footy when the 1998 World Cup rolled around. In a vital knockout game against fierce rivals Argentina, Things were getting heated. After getting knocked down by a heavy tackle, David lost his cool. Whilst lying on the ground, he kicked an opposition player in anger, earning him a swift red card. England had one of the best teams in the tournament that year and David was blamed for England’s early exit.

He was public enemy number 1 when he arrived back in Britain. He tells Adidas how the sending off deeply affected him and he desperately wanted to redeem himself with the England faithful. His moment came 4 years later, when he put away a vital penalty in another World Cup tie against Argentina in a 1-nil victory. It’s an interesting video from Adidas that shows us how passionate David is about soccer. Even though it’s been close to a decade since he’s played professionally, you can tell he’d still love to get back out on the pitch given the chance.
