Google’s Lunar XPRIZE competition has challenged private businesses to land a vehicle on the Moon, have it travel 500 metres on the surface and then transmit high-definition photographs and videos back to Earth. While the project will push space travel forwards and prove to other businesses that it is an achievable goal, this great animation by Culture Trip breaks down some of the bigger questions that surround us going to the Moon, mainly on whether human activity such as mining for materials and building infrastructure on the Moon would have lasting consequences.
