Coca-Cola reimagines the story of Santa in their christmas ad for 2019.

In it the promo, they talk about what the story of Santa would sound like if we took it really literally. It’s a man that we don’t know, who comes in our house at night using information he’s got about us. He’s a stranger, sneaking across the world. So what should we do? Well, we should welcome him with open arms into our homes. Coke use the story of Santa to remind us that it’s pretty easy to sew division amongst people if you frame something in a cynical and misleading way. If you use the right words, even Santa can sound like a bad guy.

This is Coke’s ad for Great Britain and its fair to say that the country is a little divided at the moment. So the brand have used this opportunity to tell us remember the things that we have in common rather than to focus on our differences. Coke have been supporting more positive causes, ideas and projects in recent years. They’ve thrown themselves into environmental campaigns and LGBT issues amongst other things.
