To advertise their new IntelliMouse, modelled on the classic mouse design from decades ago, Microsoft created an enormous Rude Goldberg Machine in a warehouse in London. As the product and the campaign is aimed at PC gamers, the machine is packed full of references to games old and new, from Minesweeper to Portal, all connected through moving parts, bouncing bowling balls and even a full-on actual canon… All filmed in one shot and taking up a 5,000 square foot warehouse, the machine took several attempts to get right and required meticulous planning for it to work all in one go.
