Tennis legend Billie Jean King and the US Open say that women are worth watching in this moving promo.

All too often, women’s sports are dismissed and sometimes don’t get the widespread coverage that they deserve. Over this summer, the Women’s Football World Cup shone a light on the pay disparities that exists in men’s and women’s football. Despite making up half of the global population, sport featuring women only makes up 4% of the sports coverage on TV.

Billie tells us in this video that lots of us are missing out and that women are definitely worth watching. Ahead of the US Open, she reminds us of the incredible impact that athletes like Serena Williams have had on the world of tennis as well as the other trailblazing female athletes that have come along over the years. Billie herself became a huge feminist icon in sport in the 70s, when she played her famous “battle of the sexes” match against Bobby Riggs. This promo tells us that females in sports are just as inspiring, exciting and awesome as their male counterparts.
