ASICS – A Shot At The Title

This beautifully made animation tells the story of how Japanese sportswear brand ASICS came to design its signature basketball shoe. Presented as an animated traditional Japanese-watercolour painting, the video seamlessly combines 2D and 3D animation as well as real footage of ink in water to create an immersive and highly artistic look. Going into detail about the conception of the shoes in question, the narrator explains how company founder Kihachiro Onitsuka was inspired by the tentacles of an octopus when he came to design the soles of the sneakers.
