Artist Sue Webster takes us inside the infamous Mole Man house in Hackney, East London in this short doc.

Sue tells us the story of the odd house in the East End. In the early 2000s, the council found out that the man living in this house had been tunnelling under the it for years. The place had been a really mysterious thing in the area. It looked totally different from the properties around it and no one really knew much about the person who lived there.

The council evicted the Mole Man, for fears that the entire house could collapse. It was put up for auction and bought for over 1 million pounds by renowned architect David Adjaye. He kept the integrity of the original house but reshaped it to look like a modern home. Now, it’s still an icon in the area, but is actually a cool (and safe) place to call home. Sue shows us around the place and tells us some more about its history. She also tells us how it inspires her work as an artist.
