Dutch birdwatcher Arjan Dwarshuis took his passion to extreme lengths – in 2016, Dwarshuis broke the world-record for birdwatching, travelling for 366 days through 40 countries in every climate imaginable. This video from Great Big Story serves as both a documentary and interview with the world-record holder, who managed to see 6,852 different species of bird during his trip, which works out at about 65% of the global population. Dwarshuis talks about the highs and lows of the trip, the amount of planning that had to go into it as well as the extreme amount of travelling, and what it is about birdwatching that he finds so appealing in the first place.
