This Aldi ad tells us that we might actually like their products, even if we don’t realise it.

In the UK, which supermarket you shop at is a big social signifier. People are super attached to a specific brand. Those with more expensive tastes favour Waitrose, M&S and Sainsbury’s, middle-of-the-road shoppers love Tesco, whilst Lidl and Aldi are often seen as the most budget-friendly of the bunch. Some people say they won’t shop at Aldi because they think that their products are lower quality, but is this stereotype fair?

A skeptical shopper is asked, ” do you not like British beef or tasty craft gin or even the wacky special buys aisle?”. At the end of the ad, the woman is left scratching her head, unable to actually come up with a reason to not shop at Aldi. It’s part of the brand’s wider effort to re-establish their reputation with the British public. They’re not telling porkies either, as Aldi is often unfairly labelled as making bottom-of-the-pile products, despite being well-regarded in its home country of Germany.
