8328 is an understated yet affecting short film from Marc-André Girard, that tells the story of a meeting between ex-con Raymond and a young boy Hugo. Raymond, recently out of jail, is trying to make a living selling his wood carvings door to door, and rather than being welcomed by a potential customer he is greeted by Hugo in his Spiderman suit. The short film is beautifully acted by the pair, and the twist at the end resonates even harder after you see them build up a connection through Hugo’s extremely personal line of questioning, breaking through Raymond’s tough exterior to reveal there’s more than meets the eye.
